Spring Cleaning Your Skincare Routine (Yes, Your Skin Needs it Too)*

Friday, April 13, 2018

Spring is finally here, but I would say that loosely because it snowed two days ago in Chicago. Nonetheless, the springtime is here and I'm so happy. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the plants are growing. It's really a great time to be alive. With Spring starting, comes spring cleaning. This the time where you feel like you need to clean and air out everything from being cooped up in your house all winter.

That includes your skincare routine.

I've teamed up with Harrys to bring you a list of tips and tricks that can help you spring clean your skincare routine because we all need it.

1. Lighten up

-Eliminate the use of extra layers of serums, oils, and moisturizers

-Skin tends to stay more hydrated and retains moisture during the warmer months, just use a lightweight moisturizer during the spring months.

2. Breathe (your skin will thank you)

-Stop using a heavy foundation, it’s clogged your pores all winter

-Switch to just using concealer and you’ll give your pores a break and believe me, it's the best thing for your skin too.

-Stop using foundation and concealer all together. This gives your skin a break and lets it breathe.

3. Out with the Old, in with the New

-Use the season change to purge and get new supplies

-Old makeup is host to unseen bacteria and can cause breakouts and allergic reactions

-Old brushes are where germs hibernate this can ALSO cause breakouts and allergic reactions

-Same goes for your razors (do your man a favor and help him switch out his products too) and you know where I'm going with this one.

3. Spring means SUN

-Go outside and get some Vitamin D because it's incredibly important for you and your body.

-The sun is back and daily SPF is a must

- Sunscreen can serve as a great primer before you apply your makeup (and you’re protecting yourself at the same time) so basically, it's a 2-in-1 product

4. Exfoliate

-Winter can cause dead skin cells to build up

-Exfoliation will remove dry and flaky skin which will reduce impurities

-This will get rid of all those dead skin cells and let new and healthy skin grow.

I'm so happy that spring is finally here, but I'm not so happy about allergy season. I am currently dying from allergies. Nonetheless, the warm weather has arrived and I'm taking advantage of it. There should be more blog posts coming soon so be on the lookout for those.

I'll see you all soon!
