soooooooo actually long time, no post.

well....

it's been quite a while since I posted and I have to say, I don't really have a good excuse. I don't know. With school, job hunting, and an internship that I received for the summer, I simply forgot (!!!!) about freespiritized and I didn't really have time to post.

so much as changed since the last time I posted and I'm so excited to share it with you all. I'll have to make a whole separate post to encompass everything that's happened over the couple months. I got an internship with my hometown's city hall (where I'm currently typing this now shhhh.) and I've also been working at my grocery store as well. So this summer has been jam packed with a lot of fun things.

I have a bunch of posts planned for this year and I'm excited to share my last year of college with you all.

It's been a couple months since I last updated FreeSpiritized and it killed me. I just couldn't find the time to post a new blog post with juggling school and my personal life back in college. I'm currently on winter break, but it's not really a break since I'm WORKING ALL THE DAMN TIME because college isn't cheap. It's a new year and I'm ready to make a few changes to my blog and my life. I've been planning some blog posts over the past couple weeks and I'm super excited to share them with you all.

2018 has been an eye-opener for me. It's showed me that I am able to let loose and have fun all while maintaining the same work ethic I've had even before I began university. I can say that I've had the time of my life this year and It's all thanks to the people that I've met in my first semester of WMU. It's also been an eye-opener for me in regards to my love life. University is an interesting place to find love and I haven't encountered that one guy that made me swoon yet. Tinder is also a wild thing as well (a blog post on that later). In all seriousness, University has changed me and that's for the better. As I say to my friends and family at home, "The old Madeline is dead"

I hope you all had a great Christmas and an even better New Year.

You guys will crush your new year's resolutions and I'll see you soon!
I promise I haven't fallen off the face of the Earth.

I've just been all over the place for the past couple of months. I just haven't found the time to sit down and just crank out some blog posts. Whether it's homework or with friends, I just haven't found any time at all.

I went back home on a fall break a week or so ago, so I worked my butt off because school is leaving my bank account dry. I decided to work and I'm excited to finally get a paycheck after not having a job for a couple months.

I have a couple of blog posts planned to go up this month and I'm ready to just find time to blog because I miss it so much.

I've missed you guys so much and I'll see you soon!

I did this exact same past last year when I turned 20 and now I'm one year older and one year wiser. I turned 21 a couple days ago and I can finally do everything in America now. I can legally drink, get a tattoo, and move out of my parent's house. How exciting! The aura of being 21 is quite interesting because you're free to do everything, but you are expected to make adult decisions. It's hard when you literally act like a 5-year-old every day and dance everywhere you go. Life is all about figuring things out and I'm here just figuring out how to be an adult. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, but until then

I've compiled a list of 21 things I've learned in 21 years.

1. You have to be open-minded and be accepting of others whether you believe in their own beliefs or not. Giving respect is crucial in order to receive respect.

2 Study, Study, Study. No party or outing is more important than studying for an exam or working on an assignment. There will be other parties down the line.

3. Boys can be the nicest things on Earth or the nastiest. No boy is ever worth your tears. EVER.

4. There will be people in your life that leave you without an explanation and that's ok.

5. The Earth is a beautiful place and I wish more people cherished it.

6. Travel as much as you can. Be surrounded by a different culture and surroundings and just take it all in.

7. I shouldn't have gone down the kpop hole because I can't get out of it.

8. Force yourself to get out of your comfort zone. You'll love yourself so much later in life.

9. It's ok to have a solo dance party at 3 am and it's ok to get home at 4 am from a party.

10. There are some bad drivers out there who don't use their turn signals and don't obey the right of way to stop signs.

11. You don't owe anyone anything in life.

12. It's ok not to be ok sometimes and it's ok to tell someone that you are not ok.

13. Always eat before you drink alcohol because you'll hate yourself in the morning.

14. Retail has been a blessing in disguise even if the demands were ridiculous sometimes.

15. Listen to your parents even if you don't want too. They mean well and always have your best interests at heart.

16. Put some makeup on and put on a cute outfit on just because.

17. Never act like someone you are not in order to impress someone. If they don't like you for you, then they aren't the people to hang around with.

18. Laughing truly is the best medicine.

19. Don't keep everything bottled in. It's ok to cry and scream and just be stressed out. You can't solve all of your problems by yourself even if you want too.

20. Girls bite back and are no one's second option.

21. Just live your life the way that you want to live it. Don't let ANYONE tell you how to live your life.

I hope you all enjoyed this blog post. School and life has just gotten in the way of blogging and I'm trying to see if I can make blogtober happen again this year. I have my fingers crossed for it. I'll be looking forward to reading all of your blogtober posts regardless. October is coming and I'm ready for it!

I'll see you all soon!

When I first started college, I didn't know what to bring. Although I went to a community college first, I still didn't know what to bring. Should I bring my laptop? Should I bring my textbooks? I had all these questions swirling in my head the night before my classes started. As I began to see what worked and what didn't work and I'm going to give you five essentials that you need for college. These things actually saved me from boredom and stress many times.

-Planner

I've talked about how a planner is essential for college. If you don't have a planner, you will literally die. A planner is important because you just have to write everything down or else you'll be screwed. Professors are interesting because they'll only say when something is due once and they'll never mention it again, so it's up to you to remember it. By having a planner, you'll be one step ahead of the professor and everyone because you'll write everything down in your planner. I'm currently using the bullet journal system and I'm loving it so far. In all honesty, a planner is a must in college.

-Laptop

Now, a laptop isn't really important to take to class because some professors hate electronics in their classes and some don't. So it's a hit or miss, but I think it's important to have because you can get a head start on any homework or papers that you need to get done for a class or finish a paper or homework assignment during class because that's what I did all the time. If you have some downtime, you can always watch some youtube videos at the library before your class and that can keep you at ease. I think a laptop is an essential thing that you definitely need for college.

-Different Colored Pens

I've heard so many professors and teachers say over the years, is to take your notes in different colored pens or pen in general. They say that you are able to retain more information while taking notes and then make your notes look more put together. I think different colored pens are essential because they make your notes look really cute and they actually make me want to study them too. I love the G2 Pilot Pens, felt tip pens, and so many more.

-A Good Backpack

I remember in high school where my backpack weighed about 25 pounds and I had a terrible backpack that literally made me walk slouched. I've had my current backpack which is an UnderArmor backpack for about two years now and it's amazing! I highly recommend investing a good backpack that is waterproof and has good back support as well. I used a tote bag for my first semester and I really regretted it because my shoulder hurt so much after each class. It may look cute with your outfit, but your shoulder isn't going to feel cute at all.

I hope everyone enjoyed this post and I hope everyone is killing it at school right now. I haven't been getting a ton of homework, but I know for sure it'll hit me hard. College is quite exciting and I'm having so much fun. I'm planning some blog posts and currently in the process of planning blogtober posts so that's exciting!

I hope everyone has a great day and I'll see you all soon!

I can't believe it's almost September already! A lot of exciting things are happening in September and I'm super excited about it. September means that the school season is in full swing and I've been obsessed with cute notes, school supplies, and desk inspiration lately. In order to get me motivated for school, my inspiration for September is anything that revolves around school.

College has been going great so far and I've actually made friends. I really like how much free time I have too. It's just great. There should be more blog posts coming soon and I hope you have a great start to September!

I'm finally moved in guys! It was a hectic and stressful day, but I managed to get through it. I'm currently on my bed in my dorm room and I'm so happy that I can sit down and not sweat. It feels great. My dorm isn't completely finished and I will be adding a few things when I feel like I need them, but I'll be showing you my current setup and theme. It's basically a work in process.

The quality of my pictures won't be the best but for iPhone quality, it's pretty solid. Most of the items that I bought were from IKEA and the Motherland, Target. Without further ado, let's get on with the tour.

Background: I'm going to school at Western Michigan University and I have a suite-style dorm, where I share a bathroom with my neighbor. Most dorms have the communal style bathrooms and I couldn't imagine sharing a bathroom with a whole floor. So this is perfect for me.
I'm currently thanking God for that white fan because my dorm has no air conditioning, and I am dying and sweating and it's not cute. I'm sure it'll get better as time goes on and I'm really excited for what my future at WMU holds. Also, it feels weird that I have to do everything and I have this new found freedom.

I never got a 4.0 in high school because no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get it. The thing I realized after I graduated high school and moved onto college, was that my study routine and habits were really bad. So when I began college, I strived to perfect my study routine/habits to get the 4.0 that I wanted. I managed to get the 4.0 that I wanted, even it was for two semesters, nonetheless, I felt proud of myself. I've created a list of things I did in order to achieve a 4.0 in college.

-Stop Procrastinating

This is a hard one to overcome when youtube and Netflix exists, but it's essential to stop procrastinating. If you have 3 papers and two exams due in the same week, you have to put those distractions aside and focus on the tasks at hand. I know it's hard and I've done it so many times before. A Try Guys marathon isn't going to get you a 4.0, you have to prioritize and conquer those assignments. Instead of leaving it for tomorrow, do it today instead. YOU GOT THIS!

-PLAN

Imagine this....It's midnight and I checked my planner for any homework assignments for the next day and I noticed there's a homework assignment due that I had a temporary relapse on. I have a mini panic attack, but I get it done regardless and on time. This is all thanks to my trusty planner. A planner is an essential item in getting a 4.0 because there's so much going on in college that you just have to write it all down or else you're bound to forget it.

-Do Assignments/Study Early

This tip goes half in half with the procrastination tip. It's better to start assignments early because you never want a professor can spring on you. I've had so many instances when a professor decided to move up an assignment due date or an exam due date. Sometimes these assignments can take you longer than expected all while you have other assignments for other classes to complete. This is the same way with studying, especially studying for exams that aren't your strongest subject.

-Actually, Read The Book

The book is really important. Professors know that students don't read the book and then they add questions from the book on the exam. This is what professors do in order to get students to read the book. Also, you get extra information that the professor didn't cover the lecture. So your book is a great tool to utilize during your college years. You may not want to read it and it may be boring, but it's important.

-Take Good and Effective Notes

THIS IS SO SO IMPORTANT. When it comes to studying for exams, you'll immediately go straight to your notes. This is an essential tip in order to achieve a 4.0 in college. You don't have to write everything down, but if the professor adamantly says "write this down because it'll show up on the exam" WRITE IT DOWN! You can use a laptop to take notes and you do it the old-fashioned way. I like using both so whatever makes you feel like you're effectively taking notes, go for it. You can also use different colored pens, highlighters, and washi tape to make you actually want to take notes for class if not, you'll hate yourself when exam season comes around.

-Ask Your Professors Questions

I'm sure you're professor said this once, "don't be afraid to ask questions because I'm sure someone else has the same question too" or "no question is a stupid question" and they're so right. If you don't understand something, ask a question. I'm sure someone has the same question as you. If you're too nervous to ask a question. ask it after class. Nothing is worse than not understanding something clearly and trying to figure it out on your own. It's the worst feeling. I usually wait until class is over to ask the professor a question because they can really explain it to me in detail and with clarity instead of just giving me a quick answer due to the time restraint. Never be afraid to ask questions either.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I'm excited that school is starting up again really soon. I hope you all get that 4.0 this semester and I'll see you all soon!

The school year is fast approaching and I keep getting flashbacks of all-nighters, procrastination, and so many papers. This also means school supply and clothes shopping and being really motivated the first month and then not caring about the rest. It's tough to pick. As all of you know, I'm transferring from my community college here in Illinois and will be going to Western Michigan University in Michigan. Needless to say, I'm nervous and excited at the same time, but I'm leaning more on the nervous side. I'm currently searching the internet for dorm tours, packing lists, and just tips in general because a community college is completely different than a big university and your girl needs to be prepared. With that being said, I've compiled a list of 25 blog post ideas that are perfect for the upcoming school year that will get you into the school spirit whether you want to or not.
I hope these ideas will get you out of that back-to-school rut and get you back into writing some great back-to-school posts. I'll be moving into my dorm in three weeks and I'm really excited. I still need to buy a few things, but I have most of the items that I need like my mini fridge and microwave.

I'll see you all soon!

I'm always lusting over some skincare products and makeup products with no intention of ever buying them because my college budget is quite sad. I think there's nothing wrong with making wishlists because I always get inspired by packaging, colors, and styles of products and you can always buy them in the future as well. So essentially if a product has great packaging, a good logo, and pretty colors it will call me. Some of these products are really interesting and some of them have been floating around the blogosphere for a while now and I JUST NOW got in with the hype, which there's nothing wrong with that, but you know I'm late to everything.

So here are the products that are on my wishlist right now!

1.Coming Up Rose Cheek Duo / Colourpop

I saw this set as I was scrolling through social media and I just fell in love with the colors. It's just a blush and a highlight, but they look so pretty next to each and I'm sure they would look good on your face too. The blush is a delicate rose, perfect for a natural look and the highlight seems like it would a natural glow to your face as well. The reviews for this duo are great and the price is good for how much product receive in the set.

2. Watermelon Glow Set / The Glow Recipe

This product was super hyped up a couple months ago and I'm just now starting to lust over it. There's something about its pink and minimalistic packaging that pulled me in and the product itself is a different story. It seems like an interesting concept because I've never seen a company use watermelon as their main selling point which really interested me the most. The reviews are stellar on both of these products and the pictures I see of before and afters of people's skin looking all glowy and pretty make me want them even more. The price tag is a little steep, but I would do anything to perfect my skincare routine. I'll get it one day.

3. Beauty Dust / Moon Juice

Now, this product I found after browsing on Sephora and I found it in a "inner Beauty" set. I was really intrigued by this product because I've never seen anyone talk about it and honestly, I've never seen anything like this either. I think the concept is interesting and the packaging is really cute and the logo really called me. This is a matcha supplement that claims to "<span style="background-color: white; color: #3d3935; font-family: "basis medium" , sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.4px;"> help combat the effects of stress to expand your beauty, luster, and glow from within<span style="background-color: white; color: #3d3935; font-family: "basis medium" , sans-serif; font-size: 16px; letter-spacing: 0.4px;">" This is on my wishlist because I really want to see if this works and see if this lives up to what it claims to do. I've been reading some reviews and so far everyone seems to like it and many have seen improvements to their skin so I think it's worth a shot.

4. Yes, Please! Eyeshadow Palette / Colourpop

I don't know how long I've been wanting this eyeshadow palette for. I think the colors are so pretty and fun. It's a perfect palette for the summer and it can also transition to the fall time as well because it has some dark autumny colors. THE BRIGHT YELLOW IN THE BOTTOM CORNER IS SCREAMING MY NAME. I would like to play around with my bright eye looks using that yellow and orange. I can imagine so many looks with this palette and so many color combinations that I could try. The possibilities are endless and I'm ready to add this palette to my collection.

5. Cloud Paint / Glossier (aka the goddesses of pretty packaging)

I know what you're saying, "Madeline, cloud paint has been out for a year now and you're just now talking about it..?" listen, I've been fascinated by Cloud Paint ever since it came out. I was obsessed with its packaging and obsessed with the product itself. Leave it to Glossier for creating something so innovative and interesting, but in all seriousness, I've been eyeing this product for so long. I love how it gives you such a natural flush of color without making you look like a clown. It's perfect for on-the-go and it comes in different colors so you can find the perfect one for you. I'll hopefully be buying this one soon.

6. Shimmer and Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Kitten / Stila

Originally, I didn't understand the hype around this product because it's just a liquid eyeshadow. That wasn't until I swatched it in the store where I really fell in love with it especially in this shade. It was the prettiest nude pink I've ever seen. It wasn't too glittery, but it wasn't too dull. It had the perfect ratio of glitter. I was just imagining how many eye looks I could do with this product. I've seen so many blog posts and youtube videos raving about this product and I really want to try it out. I'll have my fingers crossed for future Madeline to buy this.

I hope you all liked this post and I'm hoping that you buy something on your wishlist because you deserve it. I'll be starting my classes at my University in one month and I'm really excited and nervous at the same time. There will be some back to school blog posts going up in August as well as a blog post all about crystal healing and the crystals that I currently have.

I hope you all had a great weekend and I'll see you soon!

I haven't done one of these in what feels like years. I think these posts are a nice segway into coming out of blogger burnout/a creative funk. It gets the creative juices going and you can always look back at what was your favorite thing in the month. Nonetheless, June was a hectic month for me. I traveled somewhere or did something every single weekend and June was also a stressful month for me as well and I'll explain it all to you in one huge blog post coming soon. June was a month where I really began to get into makeup again. I began to play around with more eyeshadow and I finally mastered the cat-eye after YEARS of trying and that made me excited. June was truly a rollercoaster with firsts and I'm excited to share my favorites with all of you!

Here they are!

NYX WonderStick in Light/Medium

I've recently started wearing and playing around with makeup more frequently. I'm beginning to see what works for me and what doesn't and the products I want to try. I like contouring my face, but my powder contour wasn't cutting it. I wanted something more and this stick was it. It has a creamy consistency which makes my contour look more natural and makes my face look more chiseled. It's really easy to apply and I can take areas that I want instead of having bronzer all over my face. I'm not a fan of the highlighter because I think it's too chalky, but I highly recommend the contour. This is a 50/50 wonderstick.

Healing Crystals

I've always had an interest in the art of crystal healing. It fascinated me how crystals can just emit different types of energy and how it can affect your life. Although, I was interested in it, I was a little bit skeptical. I recently went to Wisconsin Dells and they had a little crystal shop where I bought all the healing crystals that they had. I really wanted to see how these crystals can affect my life in a positive way. I'll be doing a blog post all about what crystals that I have and their healing properties soon, but I believe that Rose Quartz which is a crystal for love and Aventurine which is a crystal for wealth, luck, and prosperity really worked for me.

Botanics Organic Eye-Brightening Roll On

I haven't been getting a lot of sleep lately due to my online class, youtube, and my new obsession with kpop (more along the lines of this later in this post). So this product makes me not look like I've died and risen back from the dead. It really brightens your eyes and although it doesn't get rid of your dark eye circles completely, it diminishes them. This also makes my eyes feel less heavy and makes me feel more awake.

Provenance Beauty Rosehip and Avocado Facial Oil

I got this product about a year ago, around the time where there was a huge hype around them and I still use mine today. I use this facial oil around the summer time because I don't need a heavy moisturizer because my face is already sweating when I walk outside the door anyway. This oil leaves my skin feeling replenished and soft while looking glowy and radiant. Rosehip and Avacado oil are good for diminishing acne scars and just improving your skin in general. Also, It feels like I'm giving myself a little face massage while putting it on as well and that's always a plus.

Kpop

I'm a fangirl and I'm not afraid of putting it out there. I'm not one of those crazy fangirls that chase their favorite band or follow their every move on social media, I'm a pretty lowkey fangirl. With that being said, my best friend has been trying to get me into kpop for a good 3 years now and I just brushed her off. It wasn't until in June where I went down the kpop hole and became obsessed. I started listening to BTS (Blood, Sweat, Tears was on repeat for a good 3 days) and gradually started listening to more kpop groups. It's really interesting to see how these groups have their similarities and differences to groups from the west. I've been inspired by Korean culture and their fashion as well. I really recommend you listen to BTS, NCT, KARD, and EXO if you're looking for some new music to add to your summer playlists!

I hope you all enjoyed this blog post and I'm happy that I'm slowly getting back to blogging.

I started this blog almost 3 years ago and I was so happy. I was so excited to create content and I was so excited to get my soft-spoken voice out into this big world. I was bright eyed and bushy tailed as they say. As time went on, I lost my desire and happiness that I saw in blogging. Something I fell in love with became a chore. I felt like I had to write a blog post once a week to keep up engagement or else my blog would fall off the face of the blogging world. I've been a creative rut for a long time and I can't crank out blog posts as much as I used too.

I just feel lost and I have no drive to do something that I loved doing it so much. I don't know what happened.

I don't know what fate I have in store for FreeSpiritized because it's one of my children and I would hate to see something that I created and spent time over just waste away. I just don't know what to do...

Has anyone else felt this way or are currently feeling this way right now?

I would love some advice on this matter because I literally do not know what to do, so please feel free to live any comments down below.Madelinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12253523826228314986noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1916180032798684617.post-7701668369158888672018-06-26T18:25:00.002-05:002018-06-26T18:25:25.266-05:00Lifestyle Loves: Van Life

I've been really obsessed with people who live in vans. I don't know why, but I think their lifestyle is so refreshing in a world that is just constantly "go, go, go." It's quite interesting to see what their day-to-day lifestyle is where their home is literally their car. I've actually thought about buying a van, renovating it up, and drive it all over America or Canada. Obviously, this is a thought which might not happen, but it's always in the back of my mind. These people feed my inspiration and my wanderlust every single time I watch them. I've always wondered what they do when problems arise and what they do when they're bored. I have compiled a list of which Van Dwellers I love checking up on and watch their videos.
Susi Cruz

Susi was born in Germany to Chinese parents and actively travels around the world in her van. She bought a van and completely renovated into a home on wheels. I love Suzi so much. I recently began watching her videos and her everything is so beautiful. Her van is beautiful. Her dog, Peno, is beautiful. Her Instagram feed is beautiful. Her life is beautiful. She has this vibe that makes me want to keep watching. Her van is the ultimate "van goals" for me and I kind of want to recreate it. I began watching her videos when she was in Portugal and now she is currently in Spain. I recommend watching her vlogs and her van tour video because I probably watch that video 5 times a day.
Eamon and Bec

I began watching Eamon and Bec when I went down the "van life/free soul" rabbit hole and I fell in love with these two. They are perfect for each other and are really funny together. They own their own chai tea business all while living in their van that they renovated. Their van is really nice and I love their tiny kitchen so much. Their videos are really interesting and they talk about what's like living in a van while running their own business. I recommend watching their "Van Life Cost" video because it gives you an insight into how much it costs to turn a van into a home.

I stumbled upon her Instagram while I searching for more "van life" inspiration. I immediately fell in love with her Instagram. Similar to Suzi Cruz, I love her van and the vibe that it gives off. She seems so cool and so full of life and I really want to be her friend. Her blog and her Instagram is what I truly want in life Candice have such a beautiful soul and I can see that through what she posts on her social media.

June has officially started and you know what that means.....SUMMER!

I love the summertime. It's the season of hot weather, shorts, and bright colors. This is where my inspiration of June is coming from. The bohemian style is full of bright colors and flowy dresses and skirts and I love it. It just screams "go with the flow" and that is exactly what freespiritized is all about. I'm going to be inspired by bohemian interiors, fashion, and ways of life throughout all of june and I will try to incorporate this throughout my blog posts as well.

I've always thought that my style was a little bit eccentric. I can't really pinpoint what to call my style. It's a little bit of grunge-ish, boho, classic, it's a little bit of everything. To be honest, I just throw on what I feel like that morning and be on my merry way.

On this particular day, I really wanted to dabble in the menswear trend. I've always loved the look of a blazer with matching trousers or just a nice trouser. I just love it. So I recently bought a pair of linen trousers at Forever 21 for $3.00 (I ALMOST CRIED WHEN I SAW THAT PRICE TAG). They feel so nice and they are an embodiment of the menswear trend, in my opinion. I paired that with a striped crop top and a pair of white slip ons that I'm thoroughly obsessed with. I think this outfit is quite scandalous and something I wouldn't wear, but it's always good to step out of your comfort zone.

Change is something I'm not really a fan of. I like seeing the same things, the same people, and do the same things. I like having a stable life really. It's really hard for me to accept change because I get attached to things and people really quickly (I still have papers from elementary school), but sometimes you have to force change upon yourself to grow and realize that there are bigger and better things in this world. Here is a post all about the changes that are I'm currently undergoing or will be undergoing in the next couple months...

I recently transferred departments in my grocery store. I was a cashier for a good three years and my store director asked me if I wanted to work in the floral department because they really needed people. You see, I'm not a fan of change, but in this case, I was desperate to move. I was becoming burnt out from my cashier job and it was giving me so much stress because it was busy EVERY SINGLE DAY. So I decided to move and this was the best decision I've made. I really like the floral department because it's incredibly independent and I am able to tap into my creative side. Here some floral arrangements and other things that I've made over the past couple months.

Obviously I'm still practicing, but if you ever need a corsage or a boutinere for a dance, I'm your girl. I've realized during this move that I wasn't going to like it because I don't like change, but it's important to know when it's time to go. I knew it in my heart that I had to move departments because I just felt bored, stressed, and anxious all the time. Changes are good at the right time.

In terms of school, I will be taking an online class at my community college and then I am off to Western Michigan University in the fall time. I was accepted into WMU in February and I was so happy. I will be majoring Aviation Operations and Management and I'm thinking of double minor in Global and International Studies and Spanish because I think those two minors compliment my major fairly well. I will be living in the dorms for this upcoming year because I want to ease myself into a new school and by doing this I can meet new friends. I'm really nervous about the whole roommate situation, but I'm sure it'll be ok. I'm planning some college blog posts and I'm really excited about what this new college holds for me.

I'm in the process of planning some new blog posts for the next coming summer months. I want to try to incorporate more posts about school and lifestyle posts, but I will continue to post about beauty and fashion. I want to take more of my own photos so that way I won't have to rely on stock photos as much as I do now. I know I won't be able to get my blog back to the way it once was, but I can at least try to get it back. Stay tuned for exciting upcoming blog posts on le blog.

In the aspect of my life, my little sister just graduated eighth grade and is going to high school next year (the main picture is my little sister, me, and my dog). I feel really old right now because she's not my baby sister anymore and that makes me so sad. I won't be home when she walks the halls of my high school because I'll be in Michigan and that's so crazy to think that it's happening in a couple of months, but change is good.

In order for me to become a free spirit, I have to accept change whether I like it or not because frankly, that is what life is. Life isn't going to be this stable balance, it's going to teeter a little bit.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I'll see you all in the next post!
2018 is the year of the skincare routine. I see more and more people using different types of skincare brands and I love it. I love my skincare. I love watching people's skincare routines on YouTube just see if I can add another step. I love just seeing my skin improve little by little and it's such a great feeling. I've done numerous posts about my skincare routine, but those are a specific type of posts. I found this tag that was up my alley. This will have you guys get to know my skincare preferences and a little more about me.

1. Skin Type?

My skin type is a combination at the moment. I’m oily around my t-zone as well as having dry areas on my cheeks. My face gets super oily in the summer and super dry in the winter which is understandable given the climate here in Chicago.

2. Skincare Product Storage?

Most of my skincare products live on my makeup storage/knick-knack storage. The products that I use less often are in one the drawers.

3. Favorite Ingredient?

My favorite ingredient would probably have to be tea tree oil. I’ve used many products over the years that contain tea tree oil and it has improved my skin a lot. I love the burn that it leaves because I feel like it’s really doing its job.

4.Most Indulgent Product?

It has to be my Clinique moisture surge moisturizer. The clique lady told me to go with the bigger size because it’ll last longer. my wallet cried a little, but I bought it in December and it looks like I haven’t even touched it. It cost me around $50, but I am seeing the results. I highly recommend this moisturizer as well. An about a year ago, I bought a few items from Glossier and that was pretty indulgent. It was so worth it in the end. You can read about my love affair with Glossier here.

5.Best Budget Buy?

The best budget buys that I really recommend are under-eye patches from Forever 21. They only cost about $4. I've been using them for awhile now and for Forever 21, it really works. I usually use them when I look like I'm dead and after I use them, I don't look as dead as I usually do.

6.Any Tools?

Cue tips are the loves of my life. Cue tips can put on some Mario Badescu Drying Lotion, swipe off some mascara transfer on your eyelid, and they can take off anything. One of my all-time favorite tools.

7.Best Mask?

I love a good ole sheet mask. I love how easy and convenient they are and they really work. I love the tony-Moly sheet masks because they are so cute and they have so many different masks for so many different issues that you can have. They are really inexpensive if you look in the right places.

8.Best Multi-Use?
I haven't found a product that could be multi-use. Coconut oil is a good multi-use product that I've used over the years, but I don't use it as often as I used too.

9.Favorite Brand?

My favorite brand would probably be The Body Shop and Mario Badescu. Both brands have really helped me improve my skin over the years and I know that their products work the best for my skin type.

10.Best Spot Treatment?

The best spot treatment that I tried would be the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion and it is amazing. It doesn't completely make a pimple go away, but it really minimizes it drastically the next morning. It is more expensive than most spot treatments, but it does last awhile. I bought mine a year ago and I still have some product left. It's totally worth it.

11.Favorite Skincare Routine Step?

Exfoliation is my favorite step ever. I love it because exfoliation takes off all of the dead skin cells. I always imagine I’m getting new skin due to the exfoliation of my skin. I'm always like "hello new skin" after I exfoliate. I love moisturizing as well. I feel like I'm getting a facial massage and I love how smooth and soft my face feels after I moisturize it.

12.Skincare Wish List

I would love to try anything from Sunday Riley. Specifically, the Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil and the Sunday Riley U.F.O face oil, but the price makes my wallet cry. I just want to see if both of these products live up to the hype and is worth the hefty price tag. Hopefully, I will be able to try them soon. Another item that is on my wishlist is anything from Drunk Elephant. The packaging is so cute and different. It has some rave reviews so I would like to try their products as well.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I'm so happy that I'm getting back to the swing of things!

I'll see you all soon!

LONG TIME NO POST.

I am finally finished with school and I can finally start actively blogging again. It was a rough couple of months with school and my personal life and I'm so happy that it is over. Now, I am taking a class online over the summer, but that's online. I am also picking up more hours at work over the summer months, but I want to start blogging again. I really missed blogging and I'm ready to put my pen to paper.

I have so many ideas and I'm so excited to share it with all of you!

I'll see you all soon!Madelinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12253523826228314986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1916180032798684617.post-28237508768494663612018-04-13T11:00:00.000-05:002018-04-18T13:14:40.157-05:00Spring Cleaning Your Skincare Routine (Yes, Your Skin Needs it Too)*

<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">Spring is finally here, but I would say that loosely because it snowed two days ago in Chicago. Nonetheless, the springtime is here and I'm so happy. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, the plants are growing. It's really a great time to be alive. With Spring starting, comes spring cleaning. This the time where you feel like you need to clean and air out everything from being cooped up in your house all winter.
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">That includes your skincare routine.
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;">
<span style="color: #222222; font-family: "arial" , sans-serif;"> I've teamed up with Harrys to bring you a list of tips and tricks that can help you spring clean your skincare routine because we all need it.

1. Lighten up

-Eliminate the use of extra layers of serums, oils, and moisturizers

-Skin tends to stay more hydrated and retains moisture during the warmer months, just use a lightweight moisturizer during the spring months.

2. Breathe (your skin will thank you)

-Stop using a heavy foundation, it’s clogged your pores all winter

-Switch to just using concealer and you’ll give your pores a break and believe me, it's the best thing for your skin too.

-Stop using foundation and concealer all together. This gives your skin a break and lets it breathe.

3. Out with the Old, in with the New

-Use the season change to purge and get new supplies

-Old makeup is host to unseen bacteria and can cause breakouts and allergic reactions

-Old brushes are where germs hibernate this can ALSO cause breakouts and allergic reactions

-Same goes for your razors (do your man a favor and help him switch out his products too) and you know where I'm going with this one.

3. Spring means SUN

-Go outside and get some Vitamin D because it's incredibly important for you and your body.

-The sun is back and daily SPF is a must

- Sunscreen can serve as a great primer before you apply your makeup (and you’re protecting yourself at the same time) so basically, it's a 2-in-1 product

4. Exfoliate

-Winter can cause dead skin cells to build up

-Exfoliation will remove dry and flaky skin which will reduce impurities

-This will get rid of all those dead skin cells and let new and healthy skin grow.

I'm so happy that spring is finally here, but I'm not so happy about allergy season. I am currently dying from allergies. Nonetheless, the warm weather has arrived and I'm taking advantage of it. There should be more blog posts coming soon so be on the lookout for those.

This post has been in my drafts for I don't know how long. Although, I have done some similar posts on my blog which I always liked to do. I'm always in the market for some new blogs to read and to become obsessed with. It's always good to find some new reading material to become inspired and motivated by.

Here are 3 blogs that I truly wish I had:

Helene in Between

I stumbled upon Helene when I was searching for expats who live in Europe. After I read a few of her posts, I was hooked. She doesn't just blog about her travels (she has a plethora of travel guides that I've read so many times), She blogs about living abroad in Germany which is something that really peaked my interest as well as some tips and tricks about taking Instagram photos. It honestly feels as if I'm talking to a friend. She makes them that personable and relatable. She explains things with such clarity and ease that I reference her blog posts sometimes. Her posts aren't like Ikea instructions ladies. I highly recommend Helene to anyone who has some serious wanderlust right now.

Career Girl Daily

This is more of a website than a blog. Regardless, I love it so much. I go on it every day to boost my motivation and give me some inspiration as well. CGD has everything you ever need in a website. It has fashion, beauty, lifestyle, career, etc. My favorite aspect of their website is the "career" portion where it gives you inspiration through other girl bosses. I also love their "What's On My Desk" series because I'm just super nosy and I like to see what other people put on their desk. CGD has really inspired me to create a website for something that I truly believe in. It is still a work in progress, but when I finish it, I will make a huge announcement. Nonetheless, if you need a dose of inspiration and motivation then Career Girl Daily is the one for you.

Kate La Vie

Kate is a blogger that is always on the "Featured Posts" on Bloglovin, but for the right reasons. Her photos are what keeps me coming back as well as blog posts because they're that good. The lighting, the product placement, the props, everything about her photos give me major inspiration. Something I will probably never achieve. Her blog is everything I want in life, to be honest. It's just so pretty and I really recommend her blog.

I'm somewhat back in the swing of things. I really missed blogging and I'm happy that I'm back. I will make a blog post explaining my long absence because I feel like you guys should know why I was gone and then came back and then I disappeared again. So on and so forth. That should be up soon. On the bright side, I've got some posts planned and they should be up on my blog soon.

I'll see you all next time!

I've probably written so many of these over the two years I've been blogging. It seems like I always disappear for a couple weeks and suddenly come back with a vengeance. I blame school, life, and blogger burnout, and laziness. I haven't found a good school, work, and blog balance since the second semester started and I'm either at school or at work and there's no in between. I'm also suffering from major blogger burnout at the moment. I've been having it for a good couple months where I can't think of any fun and creative ideas.

I've just been feeling completely lost lately.

My brain just feels like "blah." I'm currently on spring break and hopefully, I can come up with some creative blog posts for the next coming months. I really miss blogging on a routine basis. I want to get back into the swing of things.

I'll give you all a better-explained post as the months come along.

I'll see you all soon!

I feel really empowered today, more than I usually do. I love seeing all these positive posts about women. I love seeing these strikes and rallies that are happening all over the world to fight for the equality of women. My heart is so full of love. It should be Women's Day every day because we shouldn't have a day to view our achievements and remind everyone of our fight for equality.

I know us ladies, have a lot to fight for even in 2018, but as long as we stand together we can see a change. It all comes down to us because it doesn't seem as if the men at the top are actually doing anything to help us fight for equality (but I digress). What I do love about this day is that I see so many women empower each other and that is so beautiful.

I've been listening to a lot "girl power" songs lately and that's why I've been feeling like I can do anything. If you combine the "girl power" songs and Women's Day, I feel like I want to create an empire.

So I've created an empowering playlist for all you ladies on this great day. These songs make me feel so empowered and so strong. All of these songs are sung by women (duh Madeline) which makes it even better. I highly recommend "Salute" by Little Mix because that is my girl power anthem.

I'm so happy that I'm back to blogging. I haven't really resolved everything in my personal life, but it's getting better little by little. I have some blog posts planned for this week and next so stay tuned!

I hope you all had a great day and I'll see you all soon!Madelinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12253523826228314986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1916180032798684617.post-61250593431359935872018-02-23T09:35:00.001-06:002018-02-23T09:35:48.138-06:00Yet Another Life Update

I feel like these "Life Updates" is becoming more and more frequent over the years. I've been bombarded with school, work, blogger burnout and just personal issues that I need resolve. I'm pretty sure you've all noticed that my blog posts have become utter crap and that is the result of all of those issues that I've stated above. So there won't be a blog post this week because I want to get my ideas and life in order.

I hope you all understand and I'll see you all soon!Madelinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12253523826228314986noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1916180032798684617.post-80839811029154696732018-02-14T20:59:00.002-06:002018-02-14T20:59:41.660-06:00I'm Alone On Valentines Day And I'm Ok With That.

"Madeline, do you have a boyfriend?"
"Madeline, you got a mans yet?"
"Madeline, where's your boy?"

These questions have grown in increasing over the past couple years. I just wave them off or just exclaim in a simple "nowhere" or "I don't have one YET" because I don't why they care so much. I understand that people are nosy because I'm a nosy person as well, but to ask the same question every single year, now that is a little too much.

Valentines Day is a day that is full of flowers, chocolate, love, and a lot of Instagram posts showcasing couple's love. Most of these Instagram posts are really cute and make me imagine what my life could be with someone in my life. Sometimes it makes me sad knowing that so many of my friends have boyfriends and I have yet to have one and those questions really do get to me.

I've realized over the years that Valentines Day is just receiving love from significant others. It's receiving love from family, friends, and most importantly yourself. I talk about Why I Love Myself in this blog post and I think it's incredibly important to love yourself first before any other significant other.

This why I'm perfectly fine with being alone on Valentines Day because I love myself and I'm not entirely alone on Valentines Day either. I have family, friends, and coworkers that I love so much and vice versa that I'm surrounded by.

I hope your Valentines Day is filled with flowers, chocolates, and unconditional love. If you're celebrating Galentines Day, GIRL I AM WITH YOU!

I hope you all have a great day and I'll see you all soon!Madelinehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12253523826228314986noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1916180032798684617.post-61740860477647326692018-02-06T15:34:00.001-06:002018-02-06T15:34:26.534-06:00February Inspiration: Pinks and Reds

I hate January. I hate how it takes 25 years for it to end, but then my favorite month of the year starts. I love February. I've always loved February. Mostly because of Valentine's Day, but the new year is quickly setting in stone. February always gave me a pink and red vibe because of Valentine's Day and I think that it's acceptable. I've been loving any shade of the red spectrum whether that be pink, rose, mauve, red. These colors make me feel happy inside (what?)

I've prepared a mood board of all the pinks and reds that will be inspiring me for February. I hope you all enjoy it!
